The Secular Prolife blog offers a great post on back alley abortion. Here’s the key sentence from the post:
The pro-[abortion] argument about "back-alley" abortions assumes that women are stupid and/or without meaningful agency.
Exactly. Pro-aborts think women don’t choose to murder their babies but are somehow forced into it. How are they forced? Pro-aborts never quite explain. They just assume with pure misogyny that women are mindless automatons without moral agency.
I don’t think enough pro-lifers make this counter argument. The fact is that women who choose to endanger their lives killing their unborn babies are doing something extremely foolish.
So, should we, as pro-aborts suggest, keep baby-murder legal on the pretense that women are morons? Or should we make baby-murder illegal and educate people about the beauty and humanity of unborn children so that few people would even consider murdering them?
