As mentioned in an earlier post, Wisconsin State Representative André Jacque has introduced into the State legislature a Personhood amendment that would recognize that “the right to life… shall apply to every human being at any stage of development”. In this short clip from UPFRONT on WISN12, Rep. Jacque and Rep. Chris Taylor briefly debate the proposal.
Rep. Chris Taylor believes that the bill would ban hormonal birth control. But this could only be true if it is shown that such hormonal birth control devices cause abortions and the victims of those abortions are human beings. It’s clear that the proposed bill applies only to human beings. It couldn’t be plainer if it were written into the actual language. Oh wait. It is written into the actual language.
I think Rep. Jacque does a reasonable job of focusing on the humanity of the unborn child. He asks “So, are you saying that the child in the womb is not a human? If so, what is it?”
Rep. Taylor ignores Rep. Jacque’s question but the answer is inadvertently hidden in her remarks:
But Rep. Jacque wants to do is say a “fertilized egg” should be treated as a person, outlawing most common forms of birth control.
She’s talking about a “fertilized egg” but the Personhood bill only applies to human beings. So, either she’s really confused or she’s using cheap name-calling to dehumanize a fellow human being. If the child in the womb isn’t a human being, the pro-aborts, such as Rep. Taylor, have no reason to oppose the bill.
Thanks again, Rep. Jacque.
