One feminist endorses abstinence

Vivian Norris, at the Huffington Post, suggests that women in Texas refrain from having sex with men who oppose baby-killing. She advises:

Don't give in if your man, boyfriend, husband, toyboy is not voting for your best interests, your reproductive health -- do not sleep with that man! I don't care how cute or charming he is! I don't care if he is your husband of many years. Resist! Go swimming! Meditate!

What a breath of fresh air! I find this very encouraging. A pro-abort actually suggests, publically suggests in writing even, that women can say “No”.  Most pro-aborts are misogynists who treat women like children. They talk as if women have no control over themselves whatsoever. You have to look no further than Judith Jarvis Thompson’s famous violinist analogy where she compared consensual sex with getting kidnapped. Some suggest that without abortion, women are forced to give birth, because avoiding sex is not an option. And of course, pro-aborts commonly claim that “If abortion is illegal, women will be FORCED into the back alley”. Forced? Because women are mere animals, without moral responsibility.

Ms. Norris recognizes that there are good reasons not to have sex and that women are quite capable of abstinence. She thinks manipulating men to support baby-killing is such a good reason. Perhaps, avoiding pregnancy, and the parental obligation that comes with it, might be a better reason. Perhaps maintaining your chastity and honoring your own dignity and the dignity of others is another better reason.

A feminist admits that sexual self-control is possible. This is a step in the right direction.
